Can You Do Both CFA and FRM?
Yes — and the combination is increasingly powerful in senior roles at banks that have both investment and risk functions. A common sequencing: FRM first (18 months, lower cost, opens risk roles immediately) → CFA later (adds investment analysis depth for senior roles). Alternatively: CFA first → FRM for specialisation if moving into risk advisory.
The India Job Market Reality 2026
In India's BFSI sector, CFA charter is most valued at AMCs (Axis, Nippon, Mirae, DSP, PPFAS etc.), broking houses and investment banks. FRM is most valued at risk functions of large banks (SBI, ICICI, HDFC, Axis) and at NBFCs with active risk management frameworks. For government bank and PSU finance roles: neither credential is required but both are strong differentiators.
